Luoyang Longmen Grottoes, China Travel Photography

Before our visit, I had no idea this place existed. It might be the most magical stop on our trip thus far. Not just because a precocious child tailgated me the entire visit, cornering me at a hilltop temple to give me a gift of two face-sized yellow leaves and a tiny red Buddha. But also, because it’s just a stunning surprise. Around 100,000 stone Buddhas adorn a vast swath of cliffed landscape along the river in Luoyang. They vary from walnut size miniatures to towering totems. See for yourself. Also, if you’re reading this and you want a postcard, hit me up with your mailing address via email!
