Roman Streets – Italy Travel Photography (Part 1)

I always wanted to be good at street photography, but in college the limitations of my own fear and costly 35mm film kept me from really embracing it. Then somewhere around 2004 when I got my first digital SLR with no limitations of film I discovered it was more my fear than cost holding me back. Over the years I’ve dabbled in the art form, trying to wander my urban neighborhoods to capture unsuspecting subjects at opportune moments… Largely failing to complete the mission. In 2012 my friend and artist Sue Ann got me to start “Humans of Denver” with her. I briefly approached strangers asking to capture their image for our Facebook page, which now sits languishing. In short, I’ve never had any success creating images I truly felt reflected what I wanted to create in the genre. So before I went to Italy last month I figured I would not have the guts to capture the images I longed for in my mind. Maybe it was the wine, maybe it was the distant locale, but I think I managed to pull a few off… and I’m actually kind of proud of the ones here.
