My Dad is the coolest. Hopefully you all feel the same about your Dad and are planning to spend some time with him this coming weekend for Father’s Day! My Dad (a photographer) is the reason I’m a photographer. He’s responsible for providing me with the best camera to ignite my photographic passion in High School – the Topcon Beseler that his Grandfather gave to him for his birthday when he was a teen. It’s the kind of heavy-duty-all-metal model with leather grips built sometime in the 60’s that weighs a ton and can take a serious beating. And it was outfitted with the sexiest 50mm F1.4 prime lens you’ve ever seen. I adored this camera from high school and through college and believe it’s the reason I took so intensely to photography.
I have 2 very exciting events involving my Dad & cameras going on here in PA as my visit comes to a close. Yay Dad! Yay Cameras!
The second (which I’ll tell you about first) is this Saturday. My father will be shooting with me at a wedding! I can’t wait to share this experience with him and have his work intermingled in my final product. So cool! I’ll definitely share those with you once I blog the wedding.
But the other event happened yesterday. My Dad loves planes. He and his best friend take kooky trips all over the east coast to catch airshows for the opportunity to see unique and rare historic planes. So I thought my Dad might enjoy a ride in an old Bi-plane. We traveled to the Van Sant airport where we put him on a Tiger Moth from the 1940’s. He was nothing less than giddy to have the experience. Here are some of my shots watching him go for his ride!

I apologize in advance if these look greenish on anyone’s screen – I’m having some color space issues while I use a different setup on the road!

I have photos of him in the plane, but they’re on another card… more soon!
