Today I had my first foray into corporate America. Strangely and contarty to what one might expect upon stepping over the threshold of a place they’d consistently avoided; I was not attacked, overwhelmed or privy to any unpleasant experience. On the whole my introductory day of work at Key Bank was rather nice. The “team” was warm, helpful and accomodating. The dress code, training facility and power point presentation all seemed like reasonable structures. I was given a company pen, notebook, travel mug and 2 key shaped pins. I learned 9 different passwords for various company systems. I was given a 2 hour orientation to the Key Corp financial structure. And then my manager took me to lunch. The other assistants in the building came by at intervals to introduce themselves and invite me to lunch at future junctures.
I like the sharp contrast to my most recent place of employment.
My hours are extended with a mandatory one hour lunch, which screws up the daily commute with Drew. He is being unbelievably supportive and accomodating in all of this… and I think he deserves public acknowledgement of how much it means to me when he changes his work schedule by staying late and arriving early or bikes to work so that I may use his car. 0:)
My dog graduated from dog school on Sunday. He was the star of the class, succeeding in holding a sit position among a room full of other dogs and a trainer with a pocket of hot dogs while I exited the room and returned. He also exhibited proficiency in “roll over”, “down”, loose leash walking and “come”. Don’t worry I’ll keep you updated on all the exciting acheivements of Ozzy, who we recently decided is a belgian sheepdog/akita mix with no herding tendencies, but an intense love of fetch.
