There are so many checks and balances in life it’s really hard to know when you’re ahead. Recently Drew and I took a giant leap into the lead. April was a rough month. Both of us were busy with 2nd and 3rd jobs, both of us were considering career changes of some sort and the issue of house buying was prevalent in our day to day.
With the arrival of May all those standing issues seemed to resolve themselves and now we’re prepared to close on a house and both make changes in our careers. Drew is making an exciting change within his company and I will be embarking on a new path with a small design firm in downtown Denver (yay no more commuting!). Best of all the property we are buying is in an awesome location and while it needs some work we’re happy with the inspection and the prospect of moving into a new home sometime around the end of Summer.
I also decided amidst the chaos of April that I would set a physical goal for myself. Thus, I am currently training for a 5k, which if you know me is a blatant disregard for my hatred of running and totally out of character. But, don’t be too doubtful! I started training for the Iron Girl 5k which takes place on July 1st in Denver.
Tomorrow I start my 4th week of interval training and will be close to my halfway mark for the “couch to 5k” program. Hopefully if I meet my goals I’ll be ahead of where the program leaves you and can actually run rather than jog some of the race, but no matter what I’ll just be happy to finish!
My final day at Key was today and I spent a lovely afternoon with a great crew of friends from the office saying goodbye. It was a strange and humbling experience to be sent off by so many people that I admire. The support from my former coworkers will be remembered fondly and I will take their words with me on my first day at the new office.
