Happy Birthday Mr. Weil

It’s not every day a man turns 107 and it’s not every day you happen to work right across the street from his office, which he still works at daily. Meet Jack Weil, local celebrity, inventor of the snap button cowboy shirt, local celebrity, owner of Rockmount Ranchwear, 107 years young and possibly the oldest man still working daily in America.

When I first heard of his legendary status I was curious and enamored. I love age. I think old faces, hands and bodies are beautiful and I marvel at a man like Jack Weil. Yesterday was his birthday. A yearly celebration takes place starting at Jack’s store, in which the mayor of Denver comes down to Wazee Street and changes the name to Jack A. Weil way. I showed up as a bystander, but the warmth and importance of the moment was evident as it flowed through me and then the rest of the crowd. Jack Weil keeps making history… and I got to witness a little bit of it.

I shot a couple pictures of the event, enjoy!
