Are you confusing thirst for hunger?

There was this crazy man that used to work in the children’s department of Barnes and Noble with me on Sundays. He used to speak of staging situationist art involving major intersections in Boston and Cambridge, balloons and picket fence coralls. He called himself Mr. Gary and insisted that the most important book I wasn’t reading was “Your body’s many cries for water”. To this day I’ve still never read it, but now I know that there is a website dedicated to spreading the word about water. At www.watercure.com you can find out how water will change your life. The point is that now whenever I’m thirsty but think I’m hungry I think of Mr. Gary’s antics.

In other news I’ve just returned to Boston from an extended vacation to visit the family and friends in my hometown of Doylestown PA. Its a pilgrimage that I always enjoy for quality meals and family time marked by bizarre adventures meeting up with old friends at the local hangouts, mostly bars. While home I had the good fortune to attend the old fashioned carnival hosted by my fathers volunteer fire company not once, but twice. While there I saw only a few of my former high school classmates and successfully avoided all but one. The sad news being the one I failed to avoid was this kid who had been in love with several of my friends in the past and we’d always considered in our high school days to be a dork. He’s since joined up with my fathers fire co and even my dad, the nicest man I’ve ever met, thinks the kids a moron. So here I am face to face with him, my parents at my side, and the kid is looking at me as if I should say hello, so stupidly I do. We make idle chitchat until I’m saved by my cell phone at which point he turns to my parents to ask why he knows me! I’ll never lay claim to being anymore than a moderately known presence in my high school days, but I guess I never realized how low I layed those days.

I saw a lot of good people while home. Hung out with the old crew and again was signed into the local drinking club. I need to find one of these in Boston if they exist. They’re phenomenal places with cheap beer, free pool and other games, and a crowd that asks nothing of you, but that you respect those around you. Its amazing. It was that same night that I had the pleasure of exchanging stupid embarrassing remembrances with one of my most intriguing aquantences from my hometown. Shes one of those girls I always hoped I was like, honest without being nasty, confident without being disconcerting, silly without being annoying, smart, beautiful and completely wonderful nuts. Someone I hope I’ll never figure out.

The week would make a really good story if I could just put it into words, but I don’t have the energry now, gotta wake up in 8 hours and actually finally work tomorrow. yay for pennies.

also I went to the lake with michael. he might post his pretty pictures on www.firststraw.com. but I dunno. youll have to wait and see i guess. there was a sound of music sing along. i went. it was amusing. the old ladies were adorable and so were the kids dressed as the von trapp children. i still cant get that song about maria outta my head.
