70% of Americans believe the country will never return to normal…..

This percentage of Americans isn’t sure the country ever was “normal”.

September is off to a quick and promising start for Kristy. I’ve had a surge of photographic opportunities that I’m pretty excited about. Funds continue to dribble in from gigs with the children’s theater. Parents are actually buying photos of their kids and I’m making a bit of money from the theater as well. Its nice to be making some cash, because Drew and I have taken a good hard look at our debt and decided that getting out of it would be awesome. Come 2011 Drew and I will be debt free under the new lack of spending and snowball payment plan.

Anyway back to the excitement. I did my first real life professional wedding shoot as 2nd photographer for Melissa of Lotus Photography. It was a rad experience. Besides getting great experience and education from someone in the field, I met two awesome likeminded female photographers and had a lot of fun. I even managed to avoid spraining my wrist using those hefty (amazing) L-Series lenses. I think the pressure of shooting “moments that last a lifetime” compromised my technical skills a bit, but I certaintly have a lot to think about having had this opportunity.

I also have two more pieces going up in a show tonight! They’ll hang for a month at Flash Gallery Belmar which is here in CO, just South of Denver. Along those lines I’ve been entering various calls for art and photo competitions. I guess my thinking is that I want exposure and I need to immerse myself in the world of photography. Its funny that I’ve always been convinced my art thrived on pain and sorrow, but i’m starting to realize that I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time and its allowing me to pursue things of which I’ve always been too afriad. I should also credit Drew as an amazing support and boost to my confidence.

Finally I’ve been going back and forth trying to touch base with photographer Greg Friedler of Naked New York book fame about assisting on his upcoming “FEMALE” project. And possibly sitting for it. The whole idea of working with another photographer whose style is so distinctly different than mine is very exciting. Hopefully something will come of it.

Alright so thats that. Art shows and assisting oh my!
