“Turkey turkey turkey” (repeat in swedish chef accent and think of Muppets Xmas)

Hi.
I went to NYC this weekend.
It rocked.

Those are pictures.
Highlights include truckdriver Kristy, Mike eating a robotic dog, and numerous pictures of my girl Mishie looking HOT!

I hit up the MOMA QNS and the ICP with Michael, as well as having a really nice lunch in midtown (?). The exhibit at the ICP was called Strangers and had some really gorgeous and creative stuff. My favorite was this series of three upper class Mannhattenites taken on an 8×10 format camera. The images were stunning, gorgeous color and detail, printed either 11×14 or 16×20. I forget the artist, which is pretty lame of me… so I’m fired for that.

Wait its Richard Renaldi, check him out http://www.icp.org/exhibitions/triennial/index.html at the exhibit page.
Or… http://www.renaldi.com/

The MOMA was smaller than I’d expected, but had some killer stuff I’d never had the pleasure of seeing in person.

One, from a series called Empire of Light by Magritte. This wasn’t the one I saw, but you get the idea. It was just gorgeous, to replicate the light from two very seperate scenes with such success makes me jealous as hell. And its freaking beautiful. Makes me feel like I’m standing in the twilight zone.

The others were by Boccioni, three in a series called States of Mind. I’ve seen futurist work before, I’ve even seen his work before, but these were stunning as a triplet. The movement in each one was mind numbing… I’m having trouble describing it. I want to say that it was as if a series of stories was told in each image, but that seems obvious. I suppose the title is description enough.

So thats all for the art lesson today.
Make sure you read chapters 10 and 11 for homework and write one comment giving your own interpretation of either Magritte, Boccioni or Renaldi’s work 🙂
