5 rumors, white merlot, and fire = a trip to PA

The drive home was awesome. I had prepared myself for hellish holiday traffic. But we made it in a cool 5.5 hours door to door with two lengthy stops. YAY!

The night I arrived I had two bonfire parties to attend and a good deal of eating to embark upon. I met with success on both counts and had quite a lovely time. Hot dogs, beans, sourkraut, popcorn, spiked apple cider, soup, wine, marshmallows, smores and all sorts of nasty food. Later I found myself facing the desicion of hitting up the bars downtown. My friends told me that its the biggest bar night of the year… so I was obligated to attend, and most of them had been drinking far too much, so it was even more imperative that I drive them.

So bar it was. Saw too many familiar faces from my history. Talked to lots of random people. Didn’t have any exceptional interactions. The mood was strange, people just standing in groups waiting to recognize someone else. Then the obligatory hug, pat on the back , hand shake or other introductory contact and “hey! I haven’t seen you in forever, what are you doing now?”. After which akward conversation ensues, until someone finds a way to depart from the interaction. Being sober made it all the more randomly amusing and yet torturous.

Today was Turkey day. Mom didn’t cry. I’m really glad about that. I didn’t even have to get her drunk or spike her eggnog with zoloft. Food was amazing. No one wants to go out tonight, we’re all suffering from TurkeyHangOver. So I’m pretending I’m in middle school again and spending the next 6 hours online. OR something.

I had white merlot with dinner. It was freaking good. My friends and I also decided to start 5 rumors and pass them around the bar last night to see how long they would take to get back to us, but we didn’t follow through cause we’re lame.

My four year old cousin is adorable. She quotes “Finding Nemo” like its her job. Her favorite line is “Hello little squishy. I shall call you squishy. And you will be my squishy”. Oh man. Soooooo cute.

I wonder how many people posted on livejournal today and their mood was “full”…
